May 3

May 3, 2014

Years ago, very early the morning of May 3, my son and I met for the first time. A joyous moment of my life, that wondrous morning. My son continues to amaze.

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
May your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young
– Bob Dylan

Cigars bought 07-10-85 (3)

Leftover cigars and a couple remaining boxes from my sons’ birthdays. In a very Reagan/Bush era way, they were all around for such special events.

There was an article in the May 4, 1992 New Yorker about the risks to the environment caused by geopolitics and domestic posturing, such as George Bush’s overall intransigence on the topic. Change a few parts and names of the story to update it for 22 years and you could find a similar article in this month’s magazine. Of course there wasn’t cover art in 1992 showing people enjoying each others company while reading their tablets.

  1. Happy Birthday and congratulations on 22 years of fine fatherhood! xo LMA

  2. Congratulations on what is obviously a great relationship you have with your son.

I’d start in on the environmental issues and the cycle of idiocy we are locked into but I fear I would never stop.

  3. Lovely! You and your son are fortunate to have each other. Wonderful memories so far … many to come!

  4. Thank you kindly, Laurie.
